The Elliott Clan
Construction of a new home
In 2009-2010, Uncle Bruce built a new abode near the old one
on Patch Road in dear old Henniker, New Hampshire, USA
Bruce-Dad-Uncle Bruce-Grandpa describes his big project
In 1973, I bought and moved into my small house on 4.1 mostly-wooded acres here on unpaved Patch Road in The Only Henniker On Earth. In 2002, I bought the adjoining 5.5 acres, demolished the existing junky house, and began various landscaping improvements. In 2009, I decided to finally build a good home on the new acreage, and move into it from the old abode.
December may not seem like a good time to begin building a new house in New Hampshire, but Pete and Jeff thought it was a great idea. Those two capable builders, the Taylor brothers, began the job for me in December 2009. With a few exceptions (excavation, footing & foundation, plumbing, chimney building), they did the whole job and did it very well. They like workng outside in the winter. None of that summer sweat, you know.
Here are some photos I took as the project progressed. Click a thumbnail to enlarge the picture full screen.
